JCPenney is closing more than 130 stores around the country this year due to declining sales -- and 9 of them are in Texas!

Here's the list of Texas stores on the chopping block:

  • Athens Village Shopping Center, Athens, TX
  • Borger Shopping Plaza, Borger, TX
  • Heartland Mall, Early, TX
  • El Paso Downtown, El Paso, TX
  • Marshall Mall, Marshall, TX
  • McAllen Downtown, McAllen, TX
  • University Mall, Nacogdoches, TX
  • King Plaza Shopping Center, Seguin, TX
  • Bosque River Center, Stephenville, TX

Typically when stores close, we actually see price INCREASES for awhile because liquidation sales start at only 10% off regular shelf prices.

So don't go nuts clearing out your local store just because it's closing -- wait until you start seeing prices 50% off original shelf price or more.
