Dollar General Ad 5/1: Best Sales & Deals

Here are the best deals I spotted in theDollar General ad for May 1 - 7, 2016.

If you plan to become a regular couponer at Dollar General, I strongly recommend building a personal relationship with your store's general manager so the cashiers don't freak out at the sight of your coupon binder.  

Bringing a copy of the Dollar General coupon policy is always a smart idea too!  The policy updated back in December 2014, so you might need to print yourself a new copy.

Best deals in the 5/1 Dollar General ad

• Mother's Day Greeting Cards -- on sale starting at 50 cents each.
• French's® Mustard -- on sale for $1 per bottle.  Use this 50 cents off coupon and pay 50 cents instead.
• Powerade® -- on sale for 75 cents per bottle.
• Renuzit® Solid Air Freshener -- on sale for $1 each, plus on a Buy 3 Get 1 Free sale.  So that's 4 for $3, or 75 cents each!
• Snapple®  -- also on sale for $1 each, plus on a Buy 3 Get 1 Free sale.  So that's 4 for $3, or 75 cents each!
• Bush's® Baked Beans -- 28 oz cans on sale 2 for $3, must buy in quantities of two to receive discount.  Use the $1 off 2 coupon from the 4/10 Smartsource insert.  Your new price falls to 2 for $2, or a dollar per can.
• Clover Valley® Marshmallows or Toaster Pastries -- on sale for $1 each.
