Newspapers May Charge More For Black Friday Ads In 2014

Get ready to pay more for your big collection of Black Friday ads in the newspaper this year!

Time is reporting that some newspaper chains around the country are considering boosting the cost of their Thanksgiving papers (which come, naturally, with all the hotly-desired Black Friday ads) to help pay for increased printing and distribution costs.

Prices could be raised on both the subscription customers, as well as those that pick up the papers in stores.

I expect some serious backlash on any newspaper that attempts this stunt -- because virtually all consumers understand that those Black Friday ads are actually paid for by stores, who, you know, WANT shoppers to get their hands on them.

There's no list of newspapers who are attempting this tactic, but I recommend checking with your subscription office to verify if your local paper will be keeping their regular prices for the Black Friday paper.

Of course, your other alternative is to look online -- since I'll be posting ad scans as they crop up, as well as pointing readers to the best overall Black Friday deals.
