How Would You Plan For A 70-Second Shopping Spree?

I heard on the radio today that one of the many, many prizes being given away in the HEB Viva SA sweepstakes are free 70-second shopping sprees!

It's not the first time HEB has given away such an exciting prize -- this photo is of three lucky Corpus Christi shoppers who scored 60-second shopping sprees at their local store back in April.

So if you were lucky enough to win one of these quick shopping sprees, how would you map out your strategy?

I know a lot of people would probably dash straight to the meat aisle, but that wouldn't be a great fit for everyone, depending on how large your family is, and how much freezer space you have at home.

Plus, I would want to snag items that were pricey, but relatively small and lightweight -- so you can grab more of them quickly.  Every second counts when you only have 70 seconds to shop!

Non-perishable items that are easy to store, like batteries or face wash, would be a smart bet.

Ooh, or vitamins and OTC allergy meds -- those are super expensive when you pay full-price, and you could probably chunk a lot of them into your cart in just over a minute.

I am pretty impressed with Corpus shopper Marcus Rio and his winning strategy.  During his spree back in April, he ran straight to the oral care aisle and wiped the store out of more than $2300 in electric toothbrushes and toothpaste in 60 seconds.

I'd love to hear what you would do if you won a free grocery shopping spree in the comments!

  1. I'm assuming you're not allowed to get gift cards, lol. Other than that I would definitely go for personal care items like razors and expensive over the counter medicine.

  2. diapers and baby aisle wouldn't be a bad way to go either for those of us with kids.
