Walgreens Deal: 75% Off Prescription Savings Club

Here's an awesome deal for anyone who's looking to save money on prescriptions in 2013 -- through January 31, 2013, you can save 75% off the cost of joining the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club, or 75% off the cost of renewing!

Typically it costs $20 to join or renew, but Walgreens is offering a $15 bonus for shoppers who  remain enrolled for 30 days after signing up.

That takes your price down to $5 for the year -- or a 75% off savings!

Here are some of the discounts offered to Walgreens Prescription Savings Club members:
  • Valuable discounts on thousands of brand-name and most generic medications
  • Between 5 percent and 20 percent discounts on most immunizations
  • 10 percent bonus on purchases of Walgreens Brand and Nice! products and in-store photofinishing services
  • 10 percent savings on services from Take Care ClinicsSM at select Walgreens
  • Savings on preventive and lifestyle medications your insurance may not cover
  • Additional prescription discounts on pet medications with a human equivalent, all compound medications, nebulizers and diabetic supplies with a prescription
So even if you have great prescription coverage through your insurance, it may be worth joining just for the additional 10% off on Walgreens brand and Nice! products throughout the course of the year.  (I love the Nice! cheese and peanut butter.)

Also, be sure to read the fine print -- if you don't save at least the amount of your membership fee in prescriptions and other discounts in 2013, Walgreens will give you the difference in store credit.

So this is no-risk -- if you get it and then don't need it, your final sign-up cost of $5 will just convert to store credit.

  1. I joined two weeks ago and have already saved more than the cost of the membership. My insurance co-pay on generics is $12 and I can only fill one month at a time. That would be $36 for 3 months. I got a 3 month supply for $10.
I think it is a great deal. And my Walgreens will run my insurance and the "W" card to see which is cheaper.
    That is great customer service!

    1. Sarah, the Walgreens site now shows a cost of $20 -- I wonder if the price dropped for 2013?

    2. Hm.. When I first got this a few years ago, it was $20. I remember them always being $20.

  3. I see that they will take the $15 off the family membership as well. For the three of us, it'd still be cheaper to go with three individuals, but to shell out $60 OOP to get $45 back would be great but not feasible for us right now. To go $35 OOP and get $15 back is still a great deal.
