Dollar General Ad 5/22: Best Sales & Deals

Here are the best deals I spotted in the Dollar General ad for May 22 - 28, 2016.

If you plan to become a regular couponer at Dollar General, I strongly recommend building a personal relationship with your store's general manager so the cashiers don't freak out at the sight of your coupon binder.  

Bringing a copy of the Dollar General coupon policy is always a smart idea too!  The policy updated back in December 2014, so you might need to print yourself a new copy.


Best deals in the 5/22 Dollar General ad

  • Dollar General In-Ad Coupon -- Spend $25 or more, Save $5 off your purchase!  This coupon is good AFTER all Dollar General discounts (including digital coupons) but BEFORE manufacturer coupons, and can be used on May 22 & 23 only.  I'll have a suggested deal scenario available tomorrow for you!
  • Gatorade -- on sale for 85 cents per 32 oz bottle.  Use the 25 cents off DG digital coupon to pay 60 cents out of pocket.  Next, submit your receipt here for a coupon for another FREE 32 oz bottle of Gatorade.  So that's like two bottles for a final price of 60 cents, or just 30 cents apiece!  NOTE: If you're not familiar with how Dollar General digital coupons work, go here for my how-to guide!
  • Aquafina Bottled Water -- 1-liter bottles on sale for $1 each.  Buy two and use this BOGO digital Dollar General coupon (may not be available to load into your account until 5/22.)  Your new price drops to 2 for $1, or 50 cents per bottle!  
  • Mist Twist -- 20 oz bottles on sale for $1 each.  Buy two and use this BOGO digital DG coupon (may not be available to load into your account until 5/22.)  Your new price falls to 50 cents per bottle!
  • Sparkling Ice Tea -- priced at $1 per bottle.  Buy two and use this 50 cents off 2 coupon.  You'll pay $1.50 out of pocket, and then you can submit for this 50 cents Ibotta rebate.  Your new price drops to $1 for both bottles, or 50 cents apiece!
  • Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce -- 18 oz bottles priced at 2 for $2.  Use the $1 off 2 coupon arriving in the 5/22 Smartsource insert.  Your new price drops to 2 for $1, or 50 cents per bottle!
  • Van Camp's Pork and Beans -- on sale 2 cans for $1, must buy in quantities of two to receive discount.  So that's just 50 cents per can!
  • Renuzit Air Fresheners -- priced at 95 cents each.  Buy six for a pre-coupon price of $5.70, then use this Buy 4 Get 2 Free coupon.  Your new price drops to $3.80 for all six, or just 63 cents apiece!
  • Armour Hot Dogs -- priced at $1 per pack.  Use this 25 cents off digital DG coupon and pay 75 cents for yours.
  • Country Time, Tang, or Kool-Aid On The Go -- 6-count boxes priced at $1 each.  Use this 25 cents off digital DG coupon and pay 75 cents for yours.
  • M&Ms, Snickers, 3 Musketeers, Twix, or Milky Way Candy Bars -- 6-count Fun Size packs priced at $1 each.  Buy two and use this 50 cents off digital DG coupon.  Your new price drops to $1.50 for both 6-packs, or 75 cents apiece!
  • Americana Socks -- on sale for $1 per pair.
  • Clover Valley Hot Dog or Hamburger Buns -- priced at $1 per pack.
