Here are the best deals I spotted in the Dollar General ad for May 17 - 23, 2015.

If you plan to become a regular couponer here, I strongly recommend building a personal relationship with your store's general manager so the cashiers don't freak out at the sight of your coupon binder.  

Bringing a copy of the Dollar General coupon policy is always a smart idea too!  The policy updated in December 2014, so you might need to print yourself a new copy.


Best  deals in the 5/17 Dollar General ad
  • Spend $25 or more, Get $5 Off -- good on Sunday, May 17 and Monday, May 18 only.  Go here for a digital coupon, or text 5OFF to 34898 to receive a mobile coupon.
  • Kraft Barbecue Sauce -- on sale for $1 per bottle.  If you spot $1 peelie coupons available in select stores, yours will be free!
  • Canada Dry®, Sunkist®, 7Up®, or Sun Drop® or Dr Pepper® 2-Liters -- on sale 3 for $3, must buy three to receive discount.  If you're a Dr. Pepper fan, you can buy 6 bottles for $6, then use three $1 off 2 coupons (sort by Beverages to find it fast; multiple devices required.)  Your price drops to $3 for all six bottles, or 50 cents each!
  • Van Camp's® Pork and Beans -- on sale for 50 cents per can.
  • Little Debbie® Mini Donuts -- on sale for $1.50 per bag.  Use the 95 cents off coupon from the 3/29 Smartsource insert and pay 55 cents for yours.
  • French's® Mustard -- on sale for $1.25 per bottle.  Use the 50 cents off coupon from the 5/10 Smartsource insert and pay 75 cents for yours.
  • Stauffer's®, Whales®, Cheddar Crackers 7 oz. or Animal Crackers -- on sale for $1 per box.
  • Clover Valley® Hamburger or Hot Dog Buns -- on sale for $1 per bag.
  • Eckrich® Sausage Links -- 14 oz packs of either Jalapeño & Cheddar or Cheddar Smoked on sale for $2.50 each.  Use the BOGO coupon from the 5/17 Red Plum insert (this was a regional coupon; I did not receive it in my San Antonio papers) and grab two packs for $1.25 apiece.
