Dollar General Ad 7/13: Best Sales & Deals

Here are the best deals I spotted in the Dollar General ad for July 13 - 20, 2014, including some nice prices on back to school basics like crayons and notebooks.  

If you plan to become a regular couponer here, I strongly recommend building a personal relationship with your store's general manager so the cashiers don't freak out at the sight of your coupon binder.  

Bringing a copy of the Dollar General coupon policy is always a smart idea too!

Best deals in the 7/13 Dollar General ad

• Back To School Supplies & Stationary -- Spend $25 or more, save $5 off with this printable coupon.
• 1 Subject Notebooks -- choose from College or Wide Rule for 34 cents each.
• Crayola Crayons -- 24-count packs on sale for 50 cents each.
• Bic Round Stic Pens -- 10-count bags on sale for 50 cents each.
• Elmer's School Glue -- on sale for 50 cents each.
• Dawn Original Dish Liquid -- on sale for 95 cents per 12.6 oz bottle.  Use the 25 cents off coupon from the 7/6 P&G insert and get yours for 70 cents instead.
• Energizer Batteries -- 4-count packs of AA or AAA batteries on sale for $3.75 each.  Watch for specially marked packages that give you $4 back when you buy two (either via check or PayPal.)  If you find those, buy two for $7.50, and use two $1 off coupons from the 7/13 Smartsource.  You'll pay $5.50 out of pocket for both, and then you can submit for your $4 rebate.  So your final price is $1.50 for both packs, or 75 cents each.
• Economy Binders -- on sale for $1 each.
• Elmer's Glue Sticks -- 3-count packs on sale for $1 each.
• Speed Stick GEAR Deodorant -- on sale for $3 each.  Use this $2 off coupon (sort by Personal Care to find it fast) and get yours for a buck instead.
• Pepsi 2-Liters -- on sale for $1 each.
• Fanta, Barq's, Minute Maid, or Mellow Yellow -- 2-liter bottles on sale 3 for $3, which works out to a buck per bottle.  Must buy three for discount.
• Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergent -- 61.25 - 70 oz bottles on sale for $3.95 each.  Buy two and use the $2 off 2 coupon from the 7/13 Smartsource insert.  That knocks your price down to $2.95 per bottle for around 44 loads, which works out to 7 cents or so per load!
• Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream -- on sale for $3.50 per carton.  Use this $1 off coupon and get yours for $2.50 instead.
• Sparkle Paper Towels -- 6-count packs on sale for $4.50 each.  Use this $1 off coupon and get yours for $3.50 each.  So that works out to just 58 cents per roll!
