Dollar General Ad 1/12: Best Sales & Deals

Here are the best deals I spotted in the Dollar General ad for January 12 - 19, 2014.  

If you plan to become a regular couponer here, I strongly recommend building a personal relationship with your store's general manager so the cashiers don't freak out at the sight of your coupon binder.  

Bringing a copy of the Dollar General coupon policy is always a smart idea too!


Best deals in the January 12 Dollar General ad

• Hormel Chili -- on sale for $1 per can.  Buy two cans and use the $1 off 2 coupon from the January 2014 issue of All You.  Your price drops to 50 cents per can.
• Progresso Soup -- on sale for $1.50 per can.  Use the $1 off coupon from the 1/5 Smartsource insert, and pay 50 cents for yours.
• Carmex Lip Balm -- priced at $1.25 each.  Buy two and use the $1 off 2 coupon from the 1/5 Smartsource insert.  Your new price drops to 75 cents each.
• Hunt's Snack Pack Pudding -- 4-count packs priced at $1 each.  Buy three and use the 45 cents off 3 coupon from the 1/5 Smartsource insert.  You'll snag yours for 85 cents per 4-pack.
• Armour Pepperoni -- on sale for $1.50 per pack.  Use this 55 cents off coupon (sort by Food to find it fast) and get yours for 95 cents instead.
• Dr. Pepper 2-Liters -- on sale 3 for $3.  So that's a buck per bottle!  Must buy three for discount.  There will apparently be some sort of coupon printing on your receipt when you purchase 2 or more Dr. Pepper 2-liters in the same transaction, but the ad doesn't specify what it will be.  If you snag these, let me know what the coupon was in the comments!
• Mountain Dew or Sierra Mist 2-Liters -- also on sale 3 for $3, also must buy three for discount.
• Clover Valley White Bread,  Hamburger Buns, or Hot Dog Buns -- on sale for $1 per bag.
• Stayfree -- assorted size bags on sale for $2 each.  Buy two bags and use the BOGO coupon from the 1/5 Smartsource insert.  That drops your price to a buck per bag!
• Mott's Applesauce -- 6-count packs on sale for $2.  Use the 55 cents off coupon from the 1/12 Smartsource insert and get yours for $1.45.
• V8 Splash -- on sale for $2 per bottle.  Buy two and use the $1 off 2 coupon from the 1/12 Smartsource insert.  That knocks your price down to $1.50 apiece.
• L'Oreal Paris Vive Pro Shampoo or Conditioner -- on sale for $2.50 per bottle.  Use this $1 off coupon and get yours for $1.50 instead.
• Aleve -- 50-count bottles priced at $6.  Use the $3 off coupon from the 1/5 Smartsource insert, and get yours for three bucks.
