Beginning Friday, November 29, shoppers can pick up a limited-edition stainless steel tumbler either in stores or online for $65 (or $75 starting Saturday, November 30.)
That sounds wildly over-priced, but this tumbler will act as a coupon for a free grande espresso drink of the owner's choice every day from January 1 - 31!
So let's do the math on this:
- Most grande espresso drinks (think lattes, caramel macchiatos, mochas, or white mochas) START around $4, and get more expensive if you add extra shots of espresso, soy milk, or additional syrup flavors.
- If you buy a grande espresso drink at Starbucks every day at the minimum $4 price, you are shelling out $124 over the course of the month.
- Stainless steel tumblers usually cost around $20 in many stores. So that's a value of about $144 for all those drinks plus the cost of the tumbler.
- That means you're saving about $55 by purchasing the tumbler over ordering your drinks in paper cups every day in January!
I used to work at Starbucks, so believe me when I tell you these tumblers will sell out VERY quickly, first at the mall stores and any stores near major shopping centers. So if you're interested in these, either get to the store first thing on Black Friday, or check the slower (relatively speaking) neighborhood stores first!
