The Starbucks Star Dash is back for August 2013 -- customers who pay for their drinks with a registered Starbucks card can earn up to a $10 eGift card if they hit 12 stars between August 1 - 13!
I am normally not a huge fan of the Starbucks Star Rewards program, but this promotion is overlapping with the Starbucks Treat Receipt promo, which runs through August 18, 2013.
So here's how I suggest taking advantage of it:
Basically, each individual transaction you make at Starbucks during August 1 -13 will earn you a star on your registered Starbucks card.
So in the morning, I suggest swinging in and getting a tall coffee or other small purchase, and paying with your Starbucks card. That's one star, and then you get your treat receipt for later in the day.
Come back after 2pm with your treat receipt, and get a grande cold drink of your choice for $2. Pay for that with your registered Starbucks card as well, and it's another star.
So if you do that for six days, you can earn your free $10 eGift card! Here's the way the math would break down:

- Two transactions a day = around $4 after treat receipt.
- 6 days of two transactions = $24, then you receive your $10 eGift card.
- So that's like getting 12 drinks at Starbucks for $14, or around $1.17 per cup.
Now, there are certainly less expensive ways to get your coffee, but for those of you who indulge in frequent Starbucks visits, this is definitely a way to cut costs for awhile!
