Dollar General 8/4: Best Coupon Deals & Sales

Here are the best deals I spotted in the Dollar General ad for August 4 - 10, 2013.  

If you plan to become a regular couponer here, I strongly recommend building a personal relationship with your store's general manager so the cashiers don't freak out at the sight of your coupon binder.  

Bringing a copy of the Dollar General coupon policy is always a smart idea too!

Unilever promotion -- Spend $25 or more, Save $5 automatically at the register

• Huggies -- buy a box of diapers ($19.50) and three packs of wipes ($2 each) for a pre-coupon price of $25.50.  Use this $2 off Huggies coupon and three of this $1 off Huggies wipes coupon (must play Facebook game; not a mobile-friendly link!)  After coupons and instant discount, you'll drop your price down to $15.50 for all four items.
• Scott Choose-A-Sheet paper towels -- 12-count packs of mega rolls (like 18 regular rolls) on sale for $10 each.  Buy three for a pre-coupon price of $30, then use three 75 cents off coupons from the 7/14 Smartsource insert.  Your price drops to $22.75 for all three packs, which works out like 42 cents per regular size roll.  Great price!

Best deals in the 8/4 Dollar General ad

• Two pocket portfolio folders with prongs -- on sale for 20 cents each.
• Alpo canned dog food -- on sale for 50 cents each.  Buy 10 and use the $1.25 off 10 coupon from the 7/28 Red Plum insert.  That knocks your price down to 38 cents per can, which is the cheapest I've seen Alpo in at least a year.  Time to stock up!
• iMagine yellow pencils -- 18-count packs on BOGO sale 2 for $1.  So 50 cents per pack.
• iMagine crayons, pencil sharpeners, or plastic rulers -- on sale for 50 cents each.
• One subject notebooks -- on BOGO sale 2 for $1.  So that's like paying 50 cents each.
• Capri Sun big pouches -- on sale for $1 each, with $2 off at the register when you buy 5.  So that drops your price to 60 cents each.
• Clover Valley white bread -- on sale for $1 per loaf.
• Rubbermaid TakeAlongs -- on sale for $2.50 per pack.  Use this $1 off coupon and get yours for $1.50 instead.
• Coke or Dr. Pepper 12-packs -- on sale 3 for $10.
• Angel Soft facial tissue -- buy one two-pack cube, get a free 4-count pack of Angel Soft toilet paper. No prices listed in ad.
