If you find your local Walmart cashiers getting anxious at the sight of your coupon binder, there's a good reason -- they could be afraid of what you'll do if and when there's a coupon denied.
Apparently an extremely dedicated couponer in Florida pulled a gun on Walmart personnel last week after they turned down one of her printable coupons.
Here's what we know so far:
The Smoking Gun reports that Walmart shopper Mary Frances Alday became irate when a manager refused to let her use printable coupons during check-out, claiming it was against Walmart's coupon policy.
That's not true, by the way -- Walmart's coupon policy specifically allows printable coupons. In fact, it's the very first thing the policy says!
However, that totally doesn't excuse Ms. Alday's response, which included obscenities and pushing a shopping cart into the manager.
When she was escorted from the store by loss prevention employees, Ms. Alday allegedly said, "If you follow me, I have something in my car for you." She then got a handgun out of her car and waved it at the employees, who understandably called police.
I am dying to know exactly what coupon triggered this meltdown, but unfortunately the police report doesn't have that information -- probably because the police officers called to the scene had to tase Ms. Alday after she resisted arrest.
She's now been charged with battery (for the shopping cart) plus four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

WOW!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHA. And people think I'M crazy. No gun here, BUUUUT, I will hold up your line while your manager is called over to help school you!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen anyone get really mad at all over refused coupons. I know I get a little annoyed when a cashier refuses to use a legitimate coupon of mine but really? This lady is just nuts! Though now all cashiers are going to be wary of all couponers, thinking they're all crazy nuts!
ReplyDeleteI was at Wal-Mart a few months ago and a customer in front of me gave me a dirty look because I had so many coupons to use. She saw my binder and commented that she didn't have time to do all of "THAT." Long story short...her transaction came out to over $260.00 and then she whipped out her Lone Star Card to pay for it all.
