If you're a CPS energy customer and were planning on doing some spring planting, listen up!
CPS is offering a $50 rebate per tree when you purchase a qualified tree and plant it in the right place to save on your energy bill, as part of the Green Shade Tree rebate program that runs through April 30th, 2013.
According to the CPS site, a tree that's planted to provide shade to your house during full sunlight can lower your energy costs by about $37 per year -- so this investment will continue to pay off for years to come.
You can submit up to five rebates per physical address for a total of $250 back in rebates on your electric bill.
Rebates will take from 10 to 12 weeks to process, which is perfect timing in a way, because that's about the time your electric bill shoots up because of the San Antonio heat.
Rebates are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, so if you're interested, I would get right on this project.
