If you purchased jars of Nutella anytime between January 2008 and February 2012, you may be eligible to receive up to $20 in reimbursement.
Nutella is settling a class action lawsuit brought against the company, which claimed that Ferrero, Nutella's parent company, was engaging in deceptive advertising when it marketed Nutella as a health food that parents could feel good serving their kids for breakfast.
As part of the lawsuit settlement, Nutella has also agreed to modify its marketing, including jar labels, TV ads, and the Nutella website.
Class action lawsuit participants can receive $4 back per jar of Nutella purchased in that 4-year time period covered in the lawsuit, up to a maximum of five jars, or $20.
You can read all the guidelines to the class action settlement here, and submit a claim here. Note that you might be required to provide some form of documentation, depending on the amount of the settlement you're claiming.
In order to be eligible for your compensation, you must submit a claim no later than July 5, 2012.

Too bad I didn't keep my receipts. My kids love Nutella, but it's so sweet it makes my teeth hurt.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how long they would be able to keep advertising it as health food...it has almost no nutritional value!!! Even peanut butter is far better for you. Does taste yummy though...
