Target NOT Ending Cartwheel App (Just A Pilot Perks Program)

The big gossip going around the coupon world today is the rumor that Target might be doing away with its popular Cartwheel discount program.

Well, fear not -- Cartwheel isn't going anywhere!

What Target is discontinuing is a test program offering additional perks, that had been running for about ten months in only 5 cities (Denver, Houston, San Diego, St. Louis and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.)

So unless you live in one of those five cities, your Cartwheel app remains completely unchanged for now.

If you DO live in one of those cities, and you've been participating in the Cartwheel Perks test program, you can continue to earn points until August 27, 2017, and continue to spend them until September 27, 2017.

Target is planning on making additional improvements to the Cartwheel app at some point in the future, including installing 'deal maps' that will let you know if you're nearby a really good sale while you're in the store.

I'm guessing those would look like the Black Friday doorbuster maps Target had available in the app last year, but that's just an educated guess.

Target RedCard holders may also have a mobile payment option coming to their Cartwheel apps soon.

I'm actually pretty excited about that one -- I love the mobile payment option that Starbucks has available for their gift cards, and I bet that the Target promotion would be similar!
