Black Friday 2016 Store Opening Times: Top Stops For Thrifty Shoppers

Trying to plan out your Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping strategies?

You'll need to know when all your favorite stores open to determine where to be and when for the biggest savings!

Here's my complete master list of store opening times on Thanksgiving evening right through to Black Friday morning, along with top doorbuster deals for each chain.

THANKSGIVING 2016 STORE OPENING TIMES

Open All Day On Thanksgiving

• CVS -- open more or less standard hours (although pharmacies may be closed or open limited hours.)  We have a whopping $63 worth of freebies after all discounts at this single store alone!
• Dollar General -- open 7am to 10pm, which is again pretty much standard hours.  DG's big claim to fame on Thanksgiving and Black Friday is their Buy One, Get One 75% Off promotion on almost all toys!  They also currently have the lowest price yet listed for a no-name tablet.
• Walgreens -- also open standard hours, excepting some pharmacies.  Swing by for some freebies and their Buy 2, Get 2 Free deal on most toys!

3PM Thanksgiving Afternoon

• JCPenney opens.  We will see several freebies available with the $10 off $10 coupons that will be passed out while supplies last that afternoon!  Again, click the store name for complete details.

4PM Thanksgiving Night

• Belk opens.  The exact hours aren't announced yet, but it looks like they will close at some point and then reopen by 6am on Friday.
• Michaels opens.  Note that stores close at midnight, and then reopen on Friday morning at 7am.

5PM Thanksgiving Night 

• Best Buy opens.  They will stay open until 1am, then will reopen at 8am on Black Friday morning.  Top deals include 50% off Philips Sonicare and the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack, plus half-off select portable DVD players, select printers, and select laptops!
• Macy's opens.  The big news this year is that we will have FREE kitchen electrics after all discounts!  The popular $10 off $25 Macy's coupons will also return.
• Stein Mart opens.  They will remain open until 11pm, then will reopen at 7am.
• Toys R Us opens.  Like in years past, TRU will have a longer open window than any other chain. Stores are promising to stay open around the clock until 11pm Black Friday evening.

6PM Thursday Night

• Bed Bath & Beyond opens.  Arrive between 6am and noon to receive a 20% off coupon!
• Five Below opens.  They will stay open until 1am, and then doors will reopen at 7am Friday morning.
• Kohl's opens.  If I had to choose, this is so far my favorite of ALL the Black Friday ads, because the popular $15 back in Kohl's Cash with a $50 purchase is returning for 2016.  That will result in multiple top-tier gift ideas being far cheaper here than at any other store on the list!
• Target opens.  Top deals include the Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge with a free $250 Target gift card plus a free Samsung Gear VR headset and a $50 Oculus content pack with purchase, and the lowest price I've seen so far on the Xbox One S 500GB Minecraft or Battlefield One Bundle!  Print your store map here.
• Sears opens.
• Ulta opens.  Stores will stay open until 2am, then reopen from 6am to 10pm on Friday.
• Walmart opens.  Best picks in the ad include the Samsung TAB E 7" Lite Android Tablet for $69 plus a $10 free Google Play credit, the Samsung 24" 710p 120MR LED HDTV for $98, and the best price I've seen so far on the Playstation 4 Slim 500GB w/ Uncharted 4 Bundle.  Print your store map here.

7PM Thursday Night

• KMart opens.

Black Friday 2016 Store Opening Times

5AM Friday Morning

• Gamestop opens.  Top picks include $1.99 t-shirts and some great offers on previously owned games and gaming systems!

6AM Friday Morning

• Big Lots opens.  This is a big change for shoppers, since last year Big Lots was open on Thanksgiving.  Instead, it looks like the chain will be hosting a big sale on Wednesday, November 23, and then reopening Black Friday morning.
• HEB Plus opens.  The popular Spend $50, Get A $10 catalina promotion runs from 6am to 11am only!
• Office Depot and Office Max opens.
• Staples opens.  Head here for printer paper at a penny per pack (!!), plus 20% off GAP and Old Navy gift cards, and the best price I've seen so far on the Keurig OfficePRO K145 Brewer.

7AM Friday Morning

• PetSmart opens.
• Sam's Club opens.

9AM Friday Morning

• Ashley Furniture opens.
• Costco opens.  
• Half Price Books opens.  Their popular free gift tote and gift card promotion is returning for the first people in line that morning!
