Dollar General Ad 8/28: Best Sales & Deals

Here are the best deals I spotted in the Dollar General ad running 8/28 - 9/3/16.

If you plan to become a regular couponer at Dollar General, I strongly recommend building a personal relationship with your store's general manager so the cashiers don't freak out at the sight of your coupon binder.  

Bringing a copy of the Dollar General coupon policy is always a smart idea too!  The policy updated back in December 2014, so you might need to print yourself a new copy.

• Bic® Round Stic® Pens -- on sale for 50 cents per pack.  Use the $1 off coupon from the 8/21 Smartsource and grab yours for FREE, plus 50 cents overage.  (Yep, DG gives overage per their coupon policy -- although a lot of cashiers don't know that.  It's why I recommend you print and bring that policy linked above!)
• iMagine® School Glue or Large Glue Stick -- on sale for 25 cents each.
• Libby's® Canned Vegetables -- on sale 2 cans for $1.  Buy four for $2, then use the $1 off 4 coupon from the 8/21 Smartsource insert.  Your new price drops to four for $1, or 25 cents apiece!
• 1 Subject Spiral Notebooks -- choose from College or Wide ruled for 50 cents each.
• Crayola® Crayons -- 24-count boxes on sale for 50 cents each.
• Elmer's® Large Glue Stick or School Glue -- on sale for 50 cents each.
• Armour® Hot Dogs -- on sale for $1 per pack.
• Betty Crocker® Cookie or Brownie Mix -- on sale for $1 per bag.
• Clover Valley® Hot Dog or Hamburger Buns -- on sale for $1 per pack.
• Clover Valley® Marshmallows -- also on sale for $1 per bag.
• Coca-Cola®, Diet Coke® 2 Liters -- on sale 3 for $3, must buy in quantities of three to receive discount.  So just a dollar apiece!
• Hefty® Foam Plates -- 45-count packs on sale 2 for $3.  Use this $1 off 2 coupon and pay a buck per bag.
• Heinz® Mustard -- 14 oz bottles on sale 2 for $2, must buy in quantities of two to receive your discount.  So that works out to a buck per bottle!
• Hunt's® Tomato Sauce -- 15 oz cans on sale for $1 each.
• Rotel® Original or Mild Diced Tomatoes -- 10 oz cans also on sale for $1 each.
• Sweet Baby Ray's® Barbecue Sauce -- 18 oz bottles on sale 2 for $2, must buy in quantities of two to receive your discount.  So that works out to a buck per bottle!
• Eckrich® Smoked Sausage -- on sale for $2.50 each.  Use the BOGO coupon from the 8/28 Red Plum insert and grab 2 for $2.50 instead.  That works out to $1.25 each!
• Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil -- 65 sq ft box on sale for $2.95 each.  Use this 75 cents off coupon and pay $2.20 for yours.
• Pampers® Easy Ups Training Underwear -- on sale for $9 per pack, plus a $5 coupon will print at the register good on your NEXT transaction when you spend $15 or more after coupons on select P&G products.  So buy four packs for a pre-coupon price of $36.  Give four $5 off coupons from the 8/28 P&G inserts.  Pay $16 out of pocket for all four, then get your $5 coupon to use next time.  Your final price is like paying $11 for four, or just $2.75 apiece!
• Pampers® Jumbo Diapers -- on sale for $9 per pack, plus a $5 coupon will print at the register good on your NEXT transaction when you spend $15 or more after coupons on select P&G products.  So buy three jumbo packs for $27, then use three $3 off coupons from the 8/28 P&G inserts.  Pay $18 out of pocket for all three, then get your $5 coupon to use next time.  Your final price is like $13 for 3, or just $4.33 apiece!
• Tyson® All Natural Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts -- 2 lb bags priced at $5.95 each.  Use the $1 off coupon from the 7/24 Red Plum insert (this was a regional coupon, so not everyone will have received it) and get yours for $4.95 instead.
• Starbucks® Coffee K-Cups® -- 10-count boxes on sale for $5.95 apiece.
