Here's some great news for couponers -- starting sometime in July 2014, the rebate program SavingStar will expand to work at more national chains, including Walmart, Target, Walgreens, Family Dollar, Dollar General, and more!
If you're not familiar with SavingStar, here's a quick overview of how it works:
When you sign up with SavingStar, you'll need to take a couple of minutes and link up your current store loyalty cards into the system. Then whenever new coupons come out, you visit the site and choose which coupons you want to download onto your card.
I am assuming that the store loyalty cards won't be an absolute requirement going forward, since none of these new chains use them. However, I strongly suggest linking your CVS Extra Care card right away!
Next important thing to know: when you purchase an item you have a SavingStar coupon for, it won't take the discount off at the register -- instead, your savings will deposit into your SavingStar account. That means you can use store coupons and/or manufacturer coupons on your purchase, and still receive your savings through SavingStar!
Once you've saved a minimum of $5, you can request your money be transferred to your bank account, your PayPal account, or even your Amazon account.
Finally, SavingStar has two weekly programs to watch -- on Tuesdays, they usually release an Healthy Offer good on some sort of produce (like 20% off your purchase of potatoes, for example.)
And on Fridays, they host a Freebie Friday offer -- so you're guaranteed a free item at least once per week!
In weeks past, the Freebie Friday has included deals like free Renuzit cones, free Ajax dishwashing liquid, free Hunt's tomato paste, free Snickers, and more.
Like I said, the expanded SavingStar program won't launch until July 2014, but I recommend you go ahead and sign up now, so you can start taking advantage of the Freebie Friday deals if nothing else.
