JCPenney will once again be rolling out sales in 2013, after a year-long experiment with their 'Fair and Square' pricing campaign resulted in disastrous numbers for the chain.
According to the Associated Press, the chain will soon show a 'reference price' on many of its price tags that will show shoppers how much they're saving.
The new price tags will show a manufacturer's suggested retail price, along with the JCPenney price, on items that can be purchased at other competitors. Store brands will have signage showing what like items would sell for at other stores.
The company is still insisting that coupons will not be returning, unfortunately -- but I personally think that depends on whether this new marketing strategy can turn around the sales decline in stores.

I'm glad, but really, it was the DUMBEST thing they did, really, when they did the fair & square, marketing wise.
