JCPenney brings back sales; ditches confusing marketing

JCPenney is bringing sales back!  Less than four months after rolling out its highly controversial Fair and Square marketing campaign, the company will be ditching the 'monthly value' advertising and return to promoting actual, honest to goodness sales.

Sales will last for a whole month, so you have some time to fit shopping into your schedule.  And it looks like clearance will still be marked down on the first and third Fridays of the month, which was always my favorite part of the Fair and Square branding.

There's no word on whether JCPenney will be re-launching coupons as well, but really, where sales go, aren't coupons likely to follow?

In the meantime, you can always create your own coupons by buying discounted gift cards online to boost your savings.  I just spotted JCP gift cards over at Plastic Jungle for 26% off their face value -- that's an extra 9% off what the old 15% off JCPenney coupons used to offer.
