How much do the Duggars spend at the grocery store?

Get ready to feel a lot better about your grocery bills.  The Duggars told The Today Show today that it costs a whopping $3000 per month to feed their family of 19 kids, plus Jim and Michelle.

When you break that down per day, though, that statistic starts looking a little more budget-friendly: the family allocates $142 for food per each Duggar each month, which works out to less than five dollars per family member each day.

So what do the Duggars eat for their five dollars a day?  Here's a typical grocery list for just one day:

  • 3 dozen eggs
  • 5 lbs turkey bacon
  • 20 biscuits
  • 10 oranges
  • 4 lbs. grapes
  • 3 loaves whole wheat bread
  • 4 lbs sloppy joe meat
  • 3 lbs. green beans
  • 3 lbs. potatoes
  • 2 watermelons
  • 2 family size bags lettuce
  • 4 lbs. spaghetti noodles
  • 3 loaves french bread
  • 2 pans brownies
  • 1 gallon vanilla ice cream

How long would all this food last in your household?  I'm getting hungry just looking at the list, but that could be the brownies and the ice cream listed at the end.
